Color:Factory Edge This listing allows you to select (by Color option) either a factory-edge razor or a razor which has been made professionally Shave Ready post-factory (and thus honed, tested, and resealed) by a 'honemeister'; if you select the Shave Ready option, you will receive a razor which was opened but is significantly sharper than the factory edge, and your razor should only be shipped and sold by the merchant to assure the honing was performed the day dispatched (please note that Wacker themselves do NOT use any factory tamper seals, but if you choose "Factory Edge" you will receive exactly what Wacker exports). It is advised to not strop before the first shave if inexperienced (always strop thereafter). The Wacker "Old Sheffield" is a large 7/8" model with big proportions and a Spanish or 'barber's notch' style point - perhaps not what one would term an everyday/everyman razor, but a truly special razor to take pride in for both its form and function alike. It is ~24mm from spine to edge and ~7/8" from spine grind to bevel plane, weighing a relatively massive 73 grams and having a thick tang. Supplied with a cardboard razor coffin (which is also made in Solingen), and entirely produced in Solingen, Germany. The Old Sheffield has scales made from farm-raised buffalo horn which are thick, durable, and relatively stable as horn goes (horn likes to move, so it always good practice to open and close any horn razor with a keen eye on the razor's toe as it enters/exits scales).
