Have churches changed since?
This was one of the movies councillor Renato Freitas of Curitiba recommended us all to watch. It was difficult to find and I was disappointed to find this one on Amazon did not have subtitles and there was only English audio.Shock and horror are the constant emotions throughout this movie. Looking around in 2022, I do not see christian groups changing much. Not in England and not in Brasil - quite the opposite, their silence and acquiescence and complete lack of action and robust opinion against far right governments who evidently use them - such as Theresa May, who used to love being filmed at the church on Sundays following the footsteps of her late father. The excessive deaths through governments negligences during the pandemic, the manipulation of death figures - this all shows us that not much has changed from the time this movie is set.Costa-Gravas is one of my favourite directors. Sadly, unlike most English people, Costa-Gravas has great sensitivity to social issues and puts such issues in contemporaneous context with precision. It is a very sad movie. But please do share it among your friends and family. It is important that us, as a world society, are very aware and stop the silence that kills several people. If you are a lieutenant or a priest, or a teacher, a cleaner, a stay at home person; a homeless person or a stock broker or a estate agent. It is about time for us to stop tolerating the intolerable. Yes, and that does include evangelicals supporting Bolsonaro in Brasil and the Church of England being quiet about things the far right Conservative governments have been doing for the past 12 years in England and other countries. It also includes the current silence from far right catholicism - which includes so much more evil than the holocaust.

very thought provoking
An all action film this certainly is not ! But if you are interested in the subject material, you will find this addictive viewing. The story is about Kurt Gerstein, German chemist and newly promoted SS Officer, who is horrified to learn that the chemical 'zyclon b' which he created, is being used to exterminate Jews and political undisirables. A man of strong Christian values, he is determined to tell the world, hoping to stop the genocide. But how far is he prepared to go in order to succeed in his quest? He finds a strong ally in Riccardo Fontana, a Jesuit with strong links to the Vatican and the Pope. The film is a thought provoking portrayal of two men in an unimaginable situation, caught up in a world surrounded by people who don't care or simply don't want to know.Kurstein walked a tight rope in which he risked being executed by either side. Was he guilty or victim ? You must make you own mind up.

Never to be forgotten
This is a film by the great Greek/French FIlm Director Costa Gavras who made 'Z". It's about the feeble Pope who led the Catholic Church as Hitler was already leading a bunch of pychopaths towards the mass murder of millions, and who failed to do what he could have done to change the destiny of Germany during those shameful years.

Not the film we intended to watch as “Amen” is not this film
The film “Comment J,ai Tue mon Pere” is not the film “Amen” we picked to watch - How this happened is beyond me , but we chose Amen based on film description and original film “Poster” and this came up instead.Any reason for the mix up?

AMEN REVIEW
This was a good insight into the different stances between the Church and The Gestapo and was thought provoking. Especially highlighting the niavity of the priest as to the "bigger picture" and the hopelessness of the people he was trying so hard to help.

Not the film described
This was purchased based on the description provided on screen of a film about chemist Kurt Gerstein. The film then shown is nothing to do with this topic. Amazon need to correct the description and return the fee for video access as it is not as described
