I have not previously read any of Banks' novels, but I've seen them recommended. I read an article about Banks passing away, and it prompted me to buy this set. I have to say it was a great purchase.Banks' writing style and prose remind me a lot of the Welsh SF author Alistair Reynolds: a crunchy thought-out futuristic universe with plenty of action and starship opera, but also some deep thoughtfulness.Highly recommended: I've already ordered another three of Banks' 'The Culture' novels!

Came on time in new condition

I just leave out one star because of the terrible printing quality. For the rest, great and very well written novels. Looking forward for the next ones after I finish with the last book included in this set.

Les 2 premier livres on une impression "grasse" très désagréable sur la petite police choisie. Le troisième livre par contre est imprimé correctement, pas de soucis à première vue.Un coup pas de bol? Ou un problème récurrent? Je ne saurai pas dire.

I love every one of these books.Banks was a genius, and will be sorely missed; I've read a LOT of sci-fi, and the only man who comes close to Banks in my estimation is Dan Abnett (although for different reasons).The sheet imagination put into these books, coupled with the scale and well-thought out plots is a combination that I love. If you like sci-fi of ANY kind, read these.Even if you don't, read these. They may well convert you.One thing to be aware of: make sure you have plenty of cash spare before you buy this product - shortly afterwards you will be buying the rest of Banks' back catalog.
