Perfect fit (length and width) for our log burner. We scoop the ash onto the shovel and then put the shovel into the receiving box to transfer the ash to the composter or dustbin without spillage. It also works with hot ash, which we leave in the box temporarily until it cools.

Such a shame. I chose this because of the decent reviews. Either the manufacturing has deteriorated in quality, or other buyers don't mind an ash pan with holes in.It looks and feels ok, sturdy enough, but when you examine the corners, the metal has been folded and not sealed or welded, leaving gaping holes on each corner where ash will definitely fall through. I got this to reduce the messy job of clearing the ash pan, so this is completely useless, unless you're happy to sprinkle ash all over your floor on the way outside. Just bizarre. To top it off, they charge for returns. Thankfully, Amazon sorted that. Really unimpressed.

Just great, can carry hit ash from fireplace without any spillage on my carpets. Was that impressed that I purchased one for my daughter as well. Very good value for money. Would definitely recommend!

This was a big let down, when you put in ashes they come out the bottom and create mess. USELESS.
