Bought this bag for my 4 year old to take to kindergarten. It's the perfect size and I love the lunch compartment on the bottom. It fits a bento box + some flat/small snacks and cutlery perfectly. It's not big enough to also fit a thermos, but that can go in one of the larger compartments. This bag will definitely last at least one or two school seasons.

I bought this for my daughter starting preschool. The pocket for the water bottle works really well and you can tighten it to ensure the water bottle doesn't fall out. The backpack is a sturdy, durable material. The insulated pocket is very handy. I thought this would come with the lunch box for some reason but it didn't. I did buy the combo with the water bottle. My daughter is almost 5 and does NOT like this water bottle. The flow is slow and you have to bite on it a bit and suck hard.. making it difficult to keep her hydrated.

Backpack is pretty sturdy and seems like it will hold up throughout the year, however the first time we put a water bottle into the mesh bottle holder on the side the elastic broke. Only one side of the bottle holder cinches right now.

While my daughter loves the backpack b/c of the print & color (unicorns), the lunch box is NOT removable. To use it you have to put the lunch in a separate container to then be taken to lunch. If something in the lunch leaks or spills, now the entire bottom of the backpack is wet. I'll be returning it.
