Child friendly
I love these books the illustrations are great giving lots to talk about & explore with your children. I think even though the stories are everyday life they spur on childrens imagination. I read them to my children years ago now my children read them to their children. The author obviously understands children. What better recommendation do you need

Shirley Hughes at her absolute best
I bought this second hand for Β£1, and I can honestly say it's one of the best pounds I have ever spent on my children. This book is so sentimentally perfect, it rings so close to home with my own son and daughter and never fails to make me tear up. My children embrace their relationship and their potential as brother and sister to love and cherish each other, through reading this book together. Absolutely beautiful, this is Shirley Hughes at her very best.

Very good
I bought this for my 2 and a half year old who was having trouble getting along with her 8 month old sister. It's a lovely book with wonderful illustrations and just the right detail and length. It has helped her understand all the things she and her sister can do together as they get older. She now also, like Alfie, plays with her toys that she doesn't want her sister to touch on the table and shares the others. I'd definately recommend this book, it's a classic that all children, especially those with siblings, should have.

Makes me cry (in a good way)!
Bought this because I have a daughter and son a similar age to the children in the book. And I love Shirley Hughes 'dogger'.My son has been much sweeter to his little sister since! Holding her hand etc.It just captures tiny children perfectly, so much so makes me and even my hubby bit tearful each time we read it. Lovely detailed illustrations. As soon as we got it my three year old son wanted me to read it again and again. A classic.

Delightful
Another great Alfie book, with lovely illustrations, in which Alfie describes what itβs like to have a little sister. Great book for kids aged 2-6, especially if they have siblings!

I think she can easily relate to the characters and the things that happen ...
Bought with the Alfie collection and my 2 year old grand-daughter loves them. Her mum tells me that is all she wants to read. I think she can easily relate to the characters and the things that happen to them. A classic that has lasted the passing of time.
