Merrick Backcountry Grain Free Dry Cat Food Raw Infused Game Bird Recipe - 10 lb Bag

I've been feeding the game bird recipe to my cat for the past ~2 years. I switched to this food when my cat had outgrown "kitten" recipes. I originally went for the Blue Buffalo Wilderness (based on name recognition mostly) food but was recommended by an associate in PetSmart to switch from them because they weren't actually the best for cats in terms of ingredients. Now my cat loves this food. She also ALWAYS eats the freeze dried raw meat bits before she will move onto the kibble. I think she would prefer if I could give her an entire bowl with just those pieces to eat. She has been very healthy and kept a steady weight with this food as well. Definitely would recommend!

I have two cats, and put this into a gravity feeder. It filled my medium feeder twice. Both cats have eaten on it consistently, sometimes as a snack and sometimes as a surprise supplement meal to their soft food. The chicken pieces are little, freeze-dried chunks of meat (sort of like Lucky Charms marshmallows, but maybe 1-in-40 pieces are actually meat). Overall, I like this food for my cats, and bought the small salmon bag at the store last week.It doesn’t dry out in a gravity feeder. It looks like regular meal with a little bit of that crumbly, graham crackery Alpo on it. The fact that I can afford it right now makes me happy. Maybe the best feature is that both of my female cats return to this food, when they’re degenerate food critics with no manners when it comes to soft food. If you’re going to DONATE cat food to UNDERPRIVILEGED areas, give this stuff a try. It won’t go to waste, and might help revive someone in need.

My cats and dogs only eat Merrick. Since the diet change from other low cost foods I can definitely see a big difference in my pet. Spend the extra money. Totally worth it.

it is alittle on the pricier side, and my cat did get a good take on it so I had too mix it in with her old food but other than that I'm glad moonlight(my cat) likes it now it has raw pieces which I love cause it feels like she gets s treat on every scoop, and shes had less hairballs

I started buying this because the only kind of wet canned food my cats will eat is fish so I wanted to balance their diet. They seem to like it and eat all of the freeze-dried bits in it. I mix this with Orijen Regional Red, which they LOVE, it’s just too expensive to feed them only that one for the kibble part of their diet. The bag has a tendency to break open during shipping. They need to change the type of thin plastic they use to bag the food.

Expensive, but quality food. Merrick is one of the best. Cats seem to eat less and the fat cat is actually losing weight because she is satisfied with less food!

My one year old cat loves this stuff. He is healthy and has a good shiny coat. While he loves it, he doesn't eat so much it makes him fat. He generally eats the freeze dried pellets first then goes for the kibble. Whenever he hears the bag crackle he comes a runnin.

Made both my cats vomit - something neither have ever had a problem with before. Disappointing, but it happens. More disappointing is that customer service was awful. You'll have to pay out-of-pocket for the shipping to return the item, which makes it not worth the refund. Keep in mind I buy their brand for my dogs and have been a loyal customer. It didn't matter. Thus, will be switching to a different company altogether.
