I've always loved dark matte polish. Finding those is almost impossible these days, so I've tried a couple of matte top coat, and they were all between bad and terrible.This one isn't. This one is magic. Your polish becomes matte a few seconds after application - by the time you get to the fifth nail, the first one is already done - and dries completely in a minute.Super easy to apply in one swipe (the brush is thick and wide), no smudge. It goes on like any regular top coat, it's that easy. The results is a great matte, with no lines, no bubbles, no artifacts.As I'm mostly using dark polish, it seems to make the actual color easier to see, maybe a little less dark?The only thing I can't comment on is the longevity, both of the matte effect and of the polish in the bottle, but I'll be sure to update my review after I've used it for a while.[Edit] I kept the manicure in the pics for more than a week. No chipping (but that's probably due to the GTG top-coat). Some people have commented that the matte effect wears off. It does NOT, however it will show any kind of greasy stuff on your nails, unlike natural nails or shiny polishes. Just washing your hands will solve that problem (or use some alcohol pad).First picture is Expressie Now or Never with Good To Go top coat. Large applicator and dries quickly. You can even watch your nails go from shiny to matted. If you put this on without anything underneath, it looks almost like your natural nails. I have tried this over light and dark polish, and it works well for both. This helps give my nails a more muted look, which I love.

This top coat is just what I was looking for! It's very matte, which is what I wanted. It took about 4 or 5 days to get any shiny spots which is much better than other matte polishes I've used. One of the best parts is that it dries super fast. It's easy to apply, clean up and is really durable. I'd definitely buy again

It certainly gets the job done, and very well at that. It also dries insanely fast My only dislike about it is the way it smudges my design. nothing annoys me more than if i just spent 3 hours painting a very intricate design on my nails and the top coat smudges it. however I've solved this by, when I've finished my design, putting a thick coat of glossy quick dry top coat that i know doesn't smudge, letting that dry and then adding this matte top coat over it.

I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this look. Use on a very nude mauve tint and the matte effect was fast, quick drying, long-lasting. I really like it! When you looking for something different...

The essie top coat does what it is suppose to do. My nails look amazing with the matte top coat but there are a few issues. For one, my nail polish chip so easily when I use the product. I usually use an essie or opi nail polish and then apply an opi top coat and my nails last a little over a week (sometimes up to two weeks without chipping). When I add the essie matte top coat, my nails chip under a week which is a bit frustrating for me. I've even tried applying the opi top coat and then the essie matte top coat and it still chips in under a week. Another issue is the matte top coat needs to be applied at least twice a week. After a few days, the nail polish starts to look glossy so the top coat it only effective for 2-3 days before it needs to be reapplied. I do like how my nails look but I'm trying to find another matte top coat that last longer than this one and prevents chipping.

When rating a matte coat you're really looking for longevity of the matte. There is NO matte top coat that won't turn into a satin finish after a few days due to oils and other things we come in contact with. Butter London is my favorite, and in my opinion, the best in that it will stay matte for almost an entire week. Unfortunately it comes with a hefty price tag of $18 a bottle. I have searched high and low for a matte that will match Butter London in quality with a more reasonable price and Essie Matte About You is definitely it! You cannot beat the velvety finish it gives (lasts about 3-4 days) for the price!For those who are fellow matte top coat lovers and are curious - I have tried several, including Revlon's (NOT a matte at all - it is a satin) - if you're looking for an even CHEAPER price tag, I recommend Sally Hansen's Big Matte Top Coat. In a pinch it is the best 'cheap' matte you can get, although the effects last for only a day or so.
