I apply it before going to bed to prevent being woken with painful leg cramps. It works. It is just Magnesium Sulfate. So it is basically a salt that can be absorbed topically. So it is fast acting if you use it to treat cramping,

I'm in my mid sixties now and I find that after doing a full days manual work (like digging holes and carting around wheel barrows of dirt) I have a pretty good chance of getting cramps in my thighs that are severe enough to wake me from a sound sleep and have me walking around the house for the next 20 minutes trying to walk them off. The good news is that I and walk them off, the bad new, I'm pretty much up for the rest of the night after doing it.I read the reviews on this fast acting foam and the vast majority spoke very highly of it. In truth I was skeptical (still am) as it's one of those things that are had to prove or disprove actually work. If I apply it and I don't get cramps was it attributable to the foam or would I not have gotten any that night anyway. If I get cramps and then apply the foam did they go away because of foam or just go away (as they always do) after walking them off. To really prove/disprove this stuff I'll need to some sort of accurate testing and keeping notes, something I doubt I'll realistically that I'm willing to do. So far I'm not convinced that applying a foam is going to make the cramps go away or keep from happening but I'm going to keep using to see if I can't develop a correlation between using it and not getting cramps and not using it and getting them and then provide an update. At the moment however, I can't recommend this because I just don't know if it's really doing anything or it's just snake oil and wishful thinking.
