A hub that truly fits secured; works with Magic keyboard attached
I’ve been in search of an iPad Pro USB hub that works well with the Magic keyboard and also fits securely. I’ve always desired to replace my PC and or Mac needs with the iPad Pro (due to the versatility of the iPad Pro, which is unmatched in such regard in my opinion). BUT, its never been quite achievable given the limited iPad Pro port selection (a single USBC port). I decided to pursue this desire once again with the advent of IPadOS 16 and the expectations awaiting the onstream of iPadOS 17 in Sept 23’. I spent quite a bit of time reading reviews on this Dock Teck device. Didn’t quite read what I was seeking, so I began to spend time on researching the connection mechanics of this device. Compared to other options, I didn’t see anything more effective. I came across a Youtube video and among a handful of other port adapters, the author highly recommended this unit. Now that I am in possession, I can honestly say this (unit) is by far my best experience …from 3 aspects: 1.) fits well with Magic keyboard to the iPad Pro; 2.) stays in place firmly where I also have a glass (matte) screen protector and last, 3.) it will not drain your battery. I’ve seen others that fly off when you unplug headphones (earphones as well) from the earphone jack and / or jump drives to include HDMI cords. Also, the adapters typically drain the heck out of your battery, which nearly defeats the purpose of one of the “value features” of the iPad Pro (long battery life). The key here (I believe) is the magnetic feature …I mean this thing fits tight and secured and not easily jarred or wiggled loose. Absolutely no damage to the iPad display screen, if such is your concern with this design. If you are trying to assimilate your iPad Pro to serve as your main PC or Mac driver, this combination delivers. Now, there are some sacrifices. I don’t like the USB 2.0 slot addition …would have been nice to have a USBC 3.2 or faster. There is a USBC slot, but you cannot use it for data access. I am one of those types constantly in search for perfection (which clearly does not exist). This combo gets me as close as I’ve seen. Hopefully this review gets to the heart of some prospective buyers concern about the 3 items I addressed. I am now using an iPad Pro 12.9 M2, Magic keyboard and the Dock Teck hub as my PC / Mac replacement kit device. Happy camper!!

Perfect for your handheld console
Got this for my rog ally after the SD card reader failed. I use 2 90 degree usb c adapters to connect it nice and flush on the back. Pop in my USB SD card adapter and boom I got extra storage. A definite recommend

VERY Useful, but Limited
It fits snuggly on the ipad and I'm not worried about it when it's on. with iOS 17 and the new Multi Camera support , live streaming is going to be a BREEZE.My only concern are the limitations of only having 2 usb ports.... wish it was 3.Also, the 3.5 audio jack doesn't seem to recognize Audio input (the icon shows a headset, not headphones implying it accepts a mic) Don't know if this is an iPad limitation or App limitation , or hardware incompatibility though. OVERALL: Does what it says it does.

Possible Power issue?
iPad Pro USB C Hub Multiport Adapter - Dockteck USBC Hub 5 in 1 with 100W PD, 4K 60Hz HDMI, Audio, USB 3.0, USB C Dock with Magnetic Grip for iPad Pro 12.9 2021 2020 2018, iPad Air, iPad Mini 6Connected to: iPAD Pro version4 with “Apple” attached closeable keyboard/top magnetic cover.---------------------------1. The 3.5mm Audio output jack is actually 4 wire: TRRS. (allows for “stereo headphone with microphone”)Important: For standard 3 wire headphone or stereo speakers , you will need a TRRS to TRS adapter cable plugged into it first and then plug your headphone etc. into that cable.NOTE: I used this Amazon audio adapter cable with no issues: - (but I’ll be applying cable strain relief to the two Jack connectors so they last longer)“Movo TCB1 3.5mm TRS (Female) Microphone to TRRS (Male) Smartphone Adapter with Headphone Jack for iPhone and Android”NOTE: YES!, this HDMI adapter DOES allow streaming audio (radio station feed, etc.) output to the audio jack without having to plug in an HDMI Cable to live monitor, to activate it. (I Mention this because a Cable Creation adapter brand I tested could NOT.)And, Yes, it also streams audio when just watching a movie on the ipad screen (w no HDMI cable), while feeding audio to external speakers.(AND the picture lip sync matched the audio heard out of the speakers. NO Lag/Latency of audio!)---------------------------2. When I plug the adapter with the metal strain relief attached under ipad as per the Ad picture, it made a connection with my keyboard one time. I tried again next day and was then UNABLE to get the keyboard to connect to the ipad. (and not since)The metal bracket fits BETWEEN the keyboard upper cover and the bottom of the ipad. The 3 connection points are right next to the bracket and the bracket is too thick to allow proper contacts connection.NOTE: I WAS able to flip the adapter/bracket assy upside down and insert it with the metal bracket now on top of the glass screen. The keyboard now works, and the adapter still works (but power is now on bottom, and audio out is on top). The bracket does have a thin rubber sheet attached to protect the surface. This bracket connection method seems a bit less secure though, since it’s not wedged in. (See pictures)---------------------------3. Two Power Supply Problems encountered: (see second worse issue in item 4)It was working just fine w a PD power supply generating 15V USB Power input, UNTIL it reached full charge.THEN the ipad charge status would show cycling back and forth between charging, and “NO connection” battery symbol on ipad screen.AT the same time, the HDMI movie output to my external monitor would disconnect (over and over).I’d had this same charger act weird on a different HDMI adapter I’d tested also, where It also was cycling on/off.I suspect this older charger has an early PD version that doesn’t support PD functions this HDMI adapter requires? (perhaps it wants to change charge voltage after reaching full charge, and not just the current??) It charges at 15 volts.I’ve had NO problems in the past with this same power supply connected directly to this ipad for long periods of time. This indicates that this HDMI Adapter must have PD power sense capabilities independent of the ipad itself.I then connected the ipad power through this HDMI adapter to an APPLE 20W USB-C charger. It was supplying power at 8 volts.I then tested it by unplugging the power cable, and simply plugged it back in again. It then took a couple of “power reconnect” attempts for it (ipad/adapter/charger combo) to finalize re-setting the charge voltage now showing at 5 volts. (note: The ipad is still showing full 100% ipad charge status, so switch to 5V is not unusual.)(NOTE: chargers communicate digitally when connected and handshake with the ipad and in this case HDMI adapter, and determine what the charge voltage/current should be for the system status at the moment. If watching a monitor plugged into the cable, you may see it connect first at 5V, then a couple seconds later shut off, and reconnect showing a higher voltage like 8V, 15V, etc. that the devices agreed to use.)---------------------------4. This NON charge issue I had is what more greatly concerned me:I used a USB-A charger to USB-C connector cable (5 volts only) (but still capable of full 2 amps at 5 volts). It was sufficiently charging and keeping up with the power usage, and slowly charging as I wanted it to.I was watching a long movie series (many hours) from ipad showing on an external HDMI monitor and external speakers via stereo amp.I’d checked earlier and the supply voltage and current usage were proper, adequate, and showed charging status OK. THEN: Hours later with no warning, ipad popped up message that battery charge was now at 10% (it had started at over 90%).I ck’d the charge status and it showed NO CABLE CONNECTED, even though it still WAS connected to the adapter. Moving cables/plugs no help. RE-Plugging power cable no help ??(strange!). My USB-C tester showed power at the end of the usb cable (so, cable is good). I had to disconnect the HDMI adapter from ipad, and then cycle ipad power to get it to properly show charging again with the same cable and charger into ipad. WHAT THE HECK?? This issue I found NO explanation for, and it had to have something to do with the adapter. There is absolutely no reason it should have “disabled” the charge cable connection and let the battery run down!!I then plugged the HDMI adapter back in, and the charge cable back into it, (with same power source) and it then behaved as if nothing was wrong, happily charging again. No, this cannot happen again. This is the final reason this HDMI adapter is being returned. No idea if it’s a defect, or is a flaw “as per design”.My original reason for choosing this adapter was because it did NOT need a fragile cable between it and the ipad.============================NOTE: I wanted the one above to work-But I finally found an HDMI adapter that has given me no issues so far. It also has a “TRS” 3 wire stereo audio out jack. (so no cable adapter required)The only drawback is that it has a short cable from it to the ipad and with a poor cable connector strain relief. (as many do) I’ll have to add my own strain relief with self-bonding silicone tape wrap, but otherwise it’s working perfectly.IF the adapter’s cable goes bad one day, the whole adapter would have to be replaced, but it was currently only $17.00. I’m thinking of buying a backup now before it’s no longer available. On Amazon, it was listed as:“USB C to VGA HDMI MultiPort Adapter, USB C Hub 5 in 1, with 4K HDMI, VGA Port, 100W Charging Power, USB 3.0 Data Port, 3.5mm Mic/Audio Jack, for MacBook Air/Pro, Dell, Samsung, Other Type-C Device Shuomeng”NOTE:- Most of the USB-C adapters will also work with things like Laptops or other PC’s with USB-C Connectors.- I’ve looked into getting a “sacrificial” USB-C Male to USB-C Female short high quality extension cable, but no luck finding one that sounds capable yet.============================
